Director of Athletics

In such a very short time UOIT has established itself as a top flight university in Canada as well as a school that is serious about its varsity athletic programs. UOIT also celebrated its 10th Anniversary this past year. It is hard to believe that we are 10 years old and that our Varsity programs marked its 7th year in 2012-13. We are extremely proud of all of our Ridgeback studentathletes, coaches, team staff, support staff and fans as we complete our seventh season of OUA and CIS competition. In doing so our teams continued to move forward and reach new milestones in many of our sports as well play-off experience. I am very confident that this success is only the tip of the iceberg for UOIT, as top coaches combined with talented student-athletes continue to turn heads across the province.

It takes a great deal of dedication and commitment to play a varsity sport, and varsity athletics is an important part of our university culture and experience. We are very proud and excited that our varsity program roster now stands at thirteen (13) teams with the addition of Women's Soccer to UOIT this past year. UOIT Varsity Athletics contributes greatly to our campus overall student experience, as well as generating significant profile for the University on a local, provincial and national level. It is all about TEAM at UOIT and our tradition of success built on hard work and training will prove to be key in reaching our ultimate goals in the OUA and CIS. Once you are a Ridgeback , you are always a Ridgeback.

We hope you enjoy the colourful pages that follow which tell the story and profile the Ridgebacks year that was 2012-13. Congratulations to all of our teams that represented us so well across the province and hats off to the many team and individual awards and accomplishments recorded this past season. Lastly if you are graduating this spring, we wish you the best of luck in your future endeavours and hope that you will support the Ridgebacks Alumni initiatives. If you are a returning student-athlete, we wish you an enjoyable summer, positive off-season training and we will look forward to seeing you in the fall for another exciting Ridgebacks varsity season.

Sincerely,

Ken Babcock Director of Athletics & Recreation University of Ontario Institute of Technology
