RESToREd dUTCh Windmill The old port town of Brouwershaven is situated on ‘Schouwen-Duiveland’, the most northern Island of Zeeland in the South-West of the Netherlands, one hour drive from Rotterdam, Antwerp and around two hours from Amsterdam. It is connected with other islands and the mainland by three bridges and a dam. The windmill is situated next to the marina and has a great view over Grevelingen lake. There are several of the best Dutch beaches nearby where you’ll find opportunities for kite surfing, sand sailing and surfing. You might also wish to visit the pretty towns of Zierikzee or Burg-Haamstede. “A classic windmill in Holland” Built in 1724, the windmill was renovated in 1969 and turned into a house to live in. Interestingly, the original cog mechanisms in the mill were preserved on the third floor and the mill can still turn its blades, although it can no longer grind grain. Surrounded by a garden that looks out over the town and marina, inside you’ll find a modern designer kitchen, cooking range, oven, microwave and dishwasher - indeed all the comforts of a modern house inside a traditional building. There is even free WiFi!
