ROLLS BAYCE There is an unparalleled sense of belief to everything this band can call their own. In terms of output, they seem to strike a fine balance between the psychedelic overtures and a mainstream appeal each time. As such there is a telling notoriety to the hip elements that also come through in their sound.
SPIRIT BUNNY In some ways this band has a reserved competency to their sound that is rather erratic but also focused. This displays an enigmatic flair that could suitably lay claim to being the heir apparent to the crown vacated by Talking Heads. Such is the practical way their leftfield style is applied to the endeavour they channel this into an incredibly rich endeavour each time with their music.
DOOM MOUNTAIN A band noted for the intensity of their live shows, they have an unapologetic joie-de-vivre to their sound which backs up the assessment. The charged style is handled favourably well and they inhabit a style that has hints of punk, rock, indie and pretty much every guitar based genre you could care to mention. They are a band who cut to the chase without any quarter given when it comes to the music.
BAT NOUVEAU Blessed with a consistency in the post wave punk style they have come to call their own, this band are also gaining a lot of attention from Australian and international media. The sound they have is one that is unapologetically cool and the deadened shoegazer touches that are processed favourably grow on anyone who appreciates fine music. This band is all about that.
SOVIET X-RAY RECORD CLUB No list of emerging artists on the Brisbane music scene would be complete without the inclusion of this band. Their energetic sound is one that derives a shapely contention of post-punk that is coated in a lush guitar whirl of decadence. The virility of which is highly intoxicating to hear but they are deservedly growing in stature on the back of their commendable ability as a live act. - 12 -
