Delivering in conflict situations – Syria (continued) The human impact of the conflict is staggering. Since 2012, the number of people in need in Syria has more than doubled and Syria is now the world’s largest refugee-producing nation. As of September 2014, 3 million Syrian refugees had fled to neighbouring countries and North Africa. Over 150 agencies and aid groups are working with local partners and national authorities to provide relief, but funding shortfalls impede their progress.
