PROVIA Guidance on Assessing Vulnerability, Impacts and Adaptation to Climate Change United Nations Environment Programme
PROVIA Guidance on Assessing Vulnerability, Impacts and Adaptation to Climate Change
The Global Programme of Research on Climate Change Vulnerability, Impacts and Adaptation (PROVIA) aims to meet a growing demand for knowledge on climate change vulnerability, impacts and adaptation by providing clear technical guidance that combines robust science with explicit consideration of user needs at the local, national and international levels, in both developed and developing countries. This document updates and improves existing guidance, discussing key issues at each stage of the adaptation cycle and covering the wide array of approaches, methods and tools available to address them. The resulting guidance should be useful to researchers, adaptation practitioners, planners and policy-makers alike.

Guidebook for the Development of a Nationally Appropriate Mitigation Action on Efficient Lighting United Nations Environment Programme
This guidebook emphasizes the role of energy efficient lighting and its potential for rapidly reducing carbon emissions and delivering economic and environmental benefits through Nationally Appropriate Mitigation Actions (NAMAs). It has been designed to assist governments, international agencies and other stakeholders shape national efficient lighting strategies into NAMAs. The guidebook encompasses the entire process from developing a basic checklist to forming a national efficient lighting strategy. It also addresses other critical elements required to establish a successful efficient lighting NAMA by providing the most up-to-date information and case studies related specifically to energy efficient lighting.

Drawing Down N2O to Protect Climate and the Ozone Layer: A UNEP Synthesis Report United Nations Environment Programme To Protect Climate and the Ozone Layer : A UNEP Synthesis Report
This report addresses the benefits of drawing down nitrous oxide (N2O) emissions. N2O is now the most significant ozone-depleting substance emission and the third most important greenhouse gas released into the atmosphere. Global anthropogenic N2O emissions are rapidly increasing and are expected to almost double by 2050. The continued build-up of N2O in the atmosphere will continue to deplete the stratospheric ozone layer. The build-up of N2O will also make it more difficult to achieve climate targets. Two-thirds of current anthropogenic N2O emissions originate from agriculture and these can be reduced by boosting nitrogen use efficiency, especially by making the use of fertilizer, manure and feed more efficient. Improving nitrogen use efficiency can be accomplished through a wide variety of feasible options. Publication Date: April 2015 ISBN: 9789280733587
