Japan Japan’s INDC proposes to reduce GHG emissions by 26 per cent by 2030 compared to 2013 levels, equivalent to a 25.4 per cent reduction against 2005 levels. All sectors and all GHGs (CO2, CH4, N2O, HFCs, PFCs, SF6 and NF3) are covered (UNFCCC, 2015).
According to the official estimate that has been included in the INDC document, Japan’s INDC would equate to emissions levels of about 1 042 Gt CO2 in 2030. The modelling groups largely agree on the impact of Japan’s INDC on its emissions.
