READ ALONG Our story begins in a wintery forest with our two heroes, Snowy and Wren. As the duo play in the forest, they stray a bit further than normal. Soon, they come across a peculiar scene--several strange creatures sneaking around the Fortress of Khione.

Inside the fortress lies the Frozen Heart, a crystal the Winter Queen created during the birth of Winterland. The Frozen Heart powers all the magic in Winterland from its citizens to the buildings. Snowy and Wren soon learn the Summer King sent these strange creatures after they used a Teardrop of Apollon to melt the Frozen Heart. 2

READ ALONG Wren and Snowy rush back to the Winter Queen’s castle to tell her all about the creature’s plans. However, when they return, the creatures are nowhere to be seen and the Frozen Heart lay damaged. In a few days, the Frozen Heart would completely melt unless they collect the Artifacts of Khione and use them to save the crystal. The Winter Queen gives Wren and Snowy their very own quest to gather the artifacts to save the frozen heart, and Winter safe! Wren and Snowy get ready for their quest and set off on their adventure. The two heroes soon find themselves in Adella and see the snowman guardians of the magic scarf in trouble. Oh no, the Summer creatures are trying to melt all the snow!

READ ALONG With the help of some Winter magic, the two heroes send a frosty breeze towards the Summer creatures and defeat them. After saving the snowman guardians and telling them about their problem, the guardians give them the magic scarf, one of the artifacts. After saying goodbye to their new snowman friends, Wren and Snowy head to the next town. Upon their arrival in Nork, our heroes look for the Winter Princess, and her magic crown. Wren and Snowy go to the Winter Princess’ castle and see the Summer creatures trying to steal her crown. Snowy knows just what to do to get the crown from those silly creatures, and starts to tell jokes. The summer creatures laugh so much that Wren and Snowy lead them out of the castle and away from the Winter Princess.

READ ALONG The Winter Princess gives them her crown and tells them to stop and visit a penguin who might know what the Odense key looks like. Wren and Snowy find Pengu in his igloo, they ask for his help to find the Odense key. He tells them, “I am not sure of the key’s exact location, but with this picture you’ll spot it without hesitation.” Pengu gives our heroes a warm cup of hot cocoa and the picture of the key, and they set out for Thermos and their next Winter item. In Thermos, life does not look like a Winter Wonderland. Summer creatures are trying to steal the ring from the mayor of Thermos. A swarm of creatures surrounds the mayor, but with help from the villagers, Wren and Snowy lure them away. While the creatures are distracted, the villagers trap the creatures in an ice net!

READ ALONG Using magic, the Mayor sends the creatures back to Vesta, the land of the Summer King. The mayor of Thermos thanks them for their help and gives Wren and Snowy the ring artifact. After saving the day once again, our heroes set off for the town of Drift. Drift is home to the Winter Candy Necklace protected and ruled by a polar bear family. Entering the gates of Drift, Wren and Snowy find the polar bears and Summer creatures playing tug-of-war with the Candy Necklace. Quickly, Wren and Snowy join the polar bear team and begin pulling on the Candy Necklace. The Candy Necklace soon breaks and Wren, Snowy, the polar bears, and the Summer minions go flying.

READ ALONG The Summer minions fly out of the gates of Drift, and the polar bears, Wren and Snowy land in a nearby snow pile. They get free from the snow and start fixing the broken Candy Necklace. Everyone places a piece of candy back onto the Winter Candy Necklace, and the necklace’s winter magic restores the artifact. Wren and Snowy say goodbye to their new polar bear friends and find themselves on the way to Vale. Vale is home to many cool items in the village caves, a never-melting snowball, a transportation snow globe, and many, many keys including the Odense key. In the cave of keys, Wren and Snowy begin their search for the right key. “There’s too many, how will we know which key is the right one?” Snowy asks.

READ ALONG Wren thinks for a moment and then says, “We know which key is the right one; Pengu gave us a pic-ture!” They pull the photo out of their pack and se-lect the correct Odense key. “We finally have all the Winter artifacts!” Wren exclaims. “Let’s get back to Odense and give them to the Winter Queen,” Snowy replies. Wren and Snowy arrive at Odense, they find it filled with the Summer King and his Summer creatures! The Summer King spots Wren and Snowy and challenges them to a Tic Tac Toe battle. “To save your Frozen Heart, you must beat me in battle. Ready to start?” the Summer King challenges.

READ ALONG First, Snowy battles the Summer King, then Wren, and in the final Tic Tac Toe battle, our heroes face the Summer King together. After beating the Summer King in his Tic Tac Toe challenge, Wren tells the Summer King “Return to Vesta with your Summer creatures, we won the Tic Tac Toe battle and will place the artifacts around the Frozen Heart!” The King and his creatures return to Vesta, and the Frozen Heart of Odense is safe once again. The Winter Queen hosts a party in celebration of our two heroes, and she gives Wren and Snowy medals to thank them for a job well done. Our story ends with Wren and Snowy enjoying the wintery forest and planning their next adventure.
