MY FATHER SANG TO ME
ANGEL WHITECALF
Death is new life
We change our perspective and see it As new life
Listen, dear one My father sang to me All those years I didn’t see him
My father whispered At night When I could hear him
My father said
…dear one, I am free No laws of men can hold me
..dear one, I have seen and felt I have sought and rebelled I’ve seen the ways of men And I am free, I tell you dear one I turned away from them
The tribes and the nation Their laws that bind Their
promises Their fights …dear one. Their way was not right for me I am born by my stars Planets gave me their minerals I am a child of the universe The Creator shaped me To dream the song of stars To reach to the planets …not to be caught in strive and demands Not the crying of women Not the smile of the children
Could bind me, hold me back I am free, a child of star-dreams And planet whispers I am free and chose the woodland
Their mystery My dogs We walked the earth
Away from human strife We slept on the ground The heartbeat of earth in our bodies
The song of stars in our dreams I sang the song of happiness I dreamed of peace and joy At night My spirit will see my children ‘ll whisper my song in their dreams I touch their cheeks
With loving fingers So softly A spirit touch like butterfly wings I tell them of love everlasting And the freedom to be
