CENTER FOR ECONOMIC EDUCATION & FINANCIAL LITERACY

The University of West Georgia’s Center for Economic Education and Financial Literacy (CEEFL), currently under the direction of Kim Holder, helps students, teachers, and community members master personal finance and the economic way of thinking. Established in 1972, the CEEFL has longstanding partnerships with the Richards College of Business, the College of Education, the Georgia Council on Economic Education, and the Council on Economic Education. CEEFL offers expert-level professional development and research-based pedagogical tools and techniques for educators to increase their confidence in content knowledge and develops signature student programming and community initiatives to help lifelong learners enhance their economic understanding and access practical financial wellness resources.

Led by Todd Anduze, our professional business consultants at the UGA SBDC at the University of West Georgia offer confidential, no-charge consulting services to companies seeking management, marketing, and financial advice. Some assistance is also provided to pre-venture businesses that have gathered the necessary information and are ready to move forward.

CENTER FOR PUBLIC HISTORY

Led by Ann McCleary, the Center for Public History at the University of West Georgia researches, documents, preserves, and promotes public discussion of the history and cultural, architectural, and folklife resources of the broader west Georgia region.

INSTITUTE FOR FACULTY EXCELLENCE

Led by Mandi Campbell, the Institute for Faculty Excellence primary goal is to provide faculty with high-quality professional development and information about innovative techniques, research, and pedagogy so that they can foster engaged learning environments for their students.

CENTER FOR INTEGRATIVE WELLNESS

To enhance and integrate university and community wellness resources – and develop new ones – the University of West Georgia has named Bridgette Stewart as the institution’s inaugural chief wellness officer.

WARING LAB

Led by Nathan Lawres, the Antonio J. Waring, Jr. Archaeological Laboratory is a research facility dedicated to the scholarly pursuit of knowledge about past cultures within Georgia and nearby areas.The laboratory exhibits four main operational areas: curation, public outreach/community engagement, interpretation/exhibit development, and research. These operational areas are used to engage the UWG student community through unique training and research opportunities and to engage the broader community that UWG is part of through educational programming based on the cultural heritage curated and preserved by the laboratory.
