About the Speakers
Angel Blue ’05 opera singer Honorary Doctor of Humane Letters
Angel Blue ’05 has graced stages worldwide, becoming renowned for her powerful interpretations of roles in La bohème, Aida, La Traviata, and Porgy and Bess
Her international career has taken her to the world’s leading opera houses, including the Metropolitan Opera, Royal Opera House in London, Teatro alla Scala in Italy, Sydney Opera House in Australia, the National Symphony Orchestra of India, and Teatro Mayor in Bogotá, Colombia.
Ms. Blue has sung in over 45 countries and is a two-time Grammy Award-winning soprano. She is the first African American to receive the Beverly Sills Award from the Metropolitan Opera in 2020 and is the recipient of the 2022 Lifetime Achievement Award from the Wharton Arts Center in New Jersey.
Angel remains dedicated to empowering and uplifting the younger generation of opera singers.

Student Commencement Speaker
Gaby Herrera stands out as a dedicated leader and advocate for firstgeneration and Hispanic communities.
A double major in Political Science and Public Policy, with minors in Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies and Race and Ethnic Studies, she has held three presidential roles—leading the Maroon & Grey Student Ambassadors, Pi Sigma Alpha, and First-Generation Family. Gaby also worked in Student Affairs and Residence Life & Housing.
Beyond campus, her public service experience includes working with State Senator Rosilicie Ochoa Bogh and Assembly Member Robert Garcia.
She is preparing to serve at the San Bernardino Superior Court and is a finalist for the prestigious Capital Fellows Program. Through every role, Gaby remains committed to equity, community engagement, and making a meaningful impact on those she serves.
