Outdoor buffs can hike, camp, canoe, wildlife-watch and more at Red River Gorge, a scenic natural canyon system less than an hour from campus. For fishing fans, Elkhorn Creek is one of the state’s best-known streams for fishing small-mouth bass, and also has canoeing, kayaking and sightseeing. Bikers, walkers and runners will love the Legacy Trail, a 12-mile trail that begins downtown and ends at the famous Kentucky Horse Park. 30
