We’ve invested in new, high quality and bespoke teaching facilities for pharmacy.
Our Pharmacy MPharm degree is fully accredited by the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) and has been designed to provide you with the opportunity to gain a strong foundation in the pharmaceutical sciences, along with the knowledge, professional skills and outlook to support you in a career in any area of pharmacy. Career prospects for Pharmacy MPharm graduates are varied and include practice in community and hospital pharmacy.
We offer placements in all four years of the course including in community and hospitalbased pharmacies, and experience with other healthcare professions. These placements offer you the opportunity to develop relationships with employers and gain relevant real-world experience, which can help to enhance your employability. You could also have the chance to take part in extra-curricular activities or join our transatlantic exchange programme with Wilkes College of Pharmacy in Pennsylvania.**
On completion of your MPharm degree, you'll be required to undertake a pre-registration year prior to registering as a Pharmacist. At Huddersfield we support you in applying for pre-registration positions and also provide advice on alternative options.
The Professional Pharmaceutical Studies BSc(Hons) is suitable if you are interested in how medicines work, and want to know more about the actions, formulations and uses of medicines, but are not wishing to undertake five years of study in order to register and practise as a Pharmacist.
I’m coached on how to be professional right from the start of the course. I receive the support I need as an individual, as well as being positively encouraged to be an independent learner. Jamie Higgins, Pharmacy MPharm
Inspiring graduate Maleeha Anwar, graduated Pharmacy MPharm 2012, now Pharmacy Manager at Lloyds Pharmacy “Having completed my pre-registration training at Lloyds Pharmacy I was employed as a Relief Pharmacist, and within my first year promoted to Pharmacy Manager. The Pharmacy course at Huddersfield provided me with the knowledge and skills I needed not only to pass the pre-registration exam, but also to work as a practising Pharmacist in the real world.”

There are four places available each year on the exchange programme with Wilkes College of Pharmacy in Pennsylvania and selection is by interview of those who express an interest. If successful you would need to cover the costs of your two week trip, which in recent years has been approximately £1500 per student. hud.ac.uk 137
