• The student visa regulations mean you will be studying with a Higher Education Institution (HEI). • Last year over 95% of our applicants were successful in securing student visas. • We can offer our Pre–Sessional Programme if you don't meet our English language requirements. • As a student of the University of Huddersfield on a full–time degree course, you are permitted to work for up to 20 hours per week during term time, and full–time work during the official University vacation periods. See our top–rated JobShop, which usually has many current jobs on offer. • Graduates can apply for Tier 2 visas when they find a job in the UK, provided that the salary is in excess of the government specified minimum. • Non–EU graduates can apply to remain in the UK to establish a business under the Tier 1 “Graduate Entrepreneur” visa route. You can obtain more information about this visa route in your final year of studies. • Non–EU PhD/Doctorate graduates can apply to remain in the UK for 12 months in order to find work. You will be given more information about the Tier 4 “Doctoral Extension Scheme” visa route when you enter the final year of your PhD course.

ATAS

Immigration

Postgraduate students may have to obtain ‘ATAS clearance’ before applying for a student visa, for certain taught Master’s, Master’s by Research or PhD degrees. This will be made a condition of your offer with full details in your offer letter and on the ATAS website www.gov.uk/guidance/ find–out–if–you–require–an– atas–certificate

We offer a comprehensive immigration advice service to all international applicants and students based overseas or in the UK who intend to study at the University. Our friendly and knowledgeable team is comprised of immigration advisers who are fully qualified in supporting international students through the visa application process.

Accommodation Once you have got your visa, you can then think about booking your accommodation. Please see page 64 of the prospectus. We strongly recommend that you arrange your accommodation before travelling to the UK.

Travelling to the UK Once you have made your travel plans, please let us know as soon as possible so that we can arrange your collection from Manchester International Airport. Enrolment and Welcome Week Once you have arrived in the UK and have gone to your accommodation, you will be able to enrol at the University and to attend “Welcome Week.” Welcome Week has a range of activities to help you meet new people and settle you into university life.
