Our Pre-sessional Academic English course is much more than a standard English course; it is an intensive training programme organised around academic projects that reflect the tasks you will need to complete for your main degree.
This three-month, one-term course will provide you with the skills you need to progress to a Master’s degree at the University of East London. The Pre-Master’s programme will develop your study, critical thinking and analytical skills. It will introduce you to the in-depth academic study required for a Master’s degree, and it will familiarise you with what it is like to study at a British university, which may be very different to your home country.

Students taking our Pre-Master’s will benefit from our firstclass teaching staff, campuses and facilities, together with the services of our dedicated International Office. You will have full access to our libraries, which are open 24-hours a day, seven days a week, together with our computer and sports facilities.

To join the Pre-Master’s course, you need to have the equivalent of a third-class Honours degree from the UK.

Please note that some of our Master’s courses have subjectspecific entry requirements in addition to the above. If this is the case, you must have met these requirements before joining the Pre-Master’s course. The English language requirements for all candidates are: for the one-term programme, you will need an overall IELTS of at least 6.0, with a 6.0 in writing and speaking, 5.5 in listening and reading.
