Quality Assurance Program The laboratory provides highest quality services (>650 tests) to its clients with an efficient and caring experience, the best Turn-Around-Time (TAT) on reports as well as a commitment and participation in the International Quality Assurance Programme. BASIC LABORATORY UNIT This is the main unit which includes: Clinical Biochemistry Endocrinology Clinical Immunology/ Serology Therapeutic Drug Monitoring (TDM), Drug of Abuse & Toxicology SpeciďŹ c proteins assessment Haematology Blood Grouping & Blood Transfusion Medicine Chromatography for Haemoglobinopathies & Newborn Screening This automatic laboratory carries out a wide variety of chemical analysis, hormones, serology tests, sorting tests include very speciďŹ c tests. Among of this provided services is specialized analysis to test a wide range of specimens and liquids which provide diagnosis of different metabolic diseases related to food digestion and infectious diseases.
This unit utilize devices: SIEMENS integrated system to automatic processing of specimens (SSIC/STREAM LAB) which is one of the latest available laboratory technology systems for pathological analysis in whole world. This system includes the following: Two devices of RXL max DIEMENSIONS, ADVIA CENTUAR, IMMUNLITE 2000 SYSTEM. Which are connected with laboratory information system (LIS), which send information to hospital information system) to transfer lab reports to the consultants in clinics in an easy way.

HEMATOPATHOLOGY UNIT Blood Transfusion & Coagulation Unit This department provide a wide range of examination including CBC, ESR examination, blood cell shape in blood slide department examination in order to diagnosis of anemia and other benignant and malignant blood disorders. This also provides measuring of all blood coagulation factors, large numbers of blood coagulation tests and blood balance in blood to guarantee. Also provide blood transfusion after doing blood tests to patient and donator, blood grouping similarity and blood antibodies and its percentage safe blood transfusion.
Clinical Microbiology Unit The department is provided with the latest devices and technologies for doing the basic diagnostic tests in microbiology, bacteriology, virology, para histology, fungus in addition to fractional biology. This department uses the automatic system (MICROSCAN) to determine the effective antibiotics against microbes, bacteria and antibiotic allergies. Another system (BACT ALERT D) WHICH has a double function of blood transplant and tuberculosis (TB) diagnosis also diagnosis of a lot of infectious diseases and serological tests by using this device. HISTOPATHOLOGY / CYTOPATHOLOGY UNIT This unit is specialized in diagnosis of all biopsy specimens to various benignant and malignant diseases, cancers and inflammations. This lab laboratory use device ( TISSUE TEK ) which represent anatomy of pathological slides an addition to chemical immunological histological tests which use (TISSUE TEK-CRYOSTAT) to make a frozen slide during operations. This unit specialized in gynecology, fluid specimens, swapping, cell withdrawal by fine needles (FNAC), semen analysis, urine and septum specimen. The uterine cervix swaps examined by (BETHESDA SYSTEM) for diagnosis besides uterine cervix viruses causing cancer (HPV), early mammography and pathological one.
SPECIAL ANALYSIS UNIT Early diagnosis for neonate’s diseases, Newborn screening: We are working on early diagnosis for some genetic diseases providing a convenient immediate therapy to avoid physical and mental retardation before it affects on child metal and physical development in a way which no medication can help. Prenatal Tests: Non invasive prenatal test 1st and 2nd trimester risk diagnosis and calculations. to examine genetic chromosomes condition such as DOUWN SYNDROME and fetus sex Y OR X. Genetic chromosomes analysis by RT_PCR.

Specimen Receiving and Blood Withdrawal Unit Process of blood withdrawal specimen is an important factor in pre-analysis phase, which can affects results in analysis phase. All specimen are collected by laboratory assistant technician qualified to blood withdrawal and specialized in calculation specimen in neonates and critical cases. Calculating can be done sometimes by internal department’s nursies and emergency department. All of previous competencies are trained to IV, thumb, ankle blood withdrawal and collect specimens from patient (blood, body fluids) as it collected in external clinics, ER and blood withdrawal services outside the hospital if it needed.

Contribution to Research and Development The hospital cooperates with universities and Ministry of Health (MOH), in purpose of education and training of medical and health sciences students. UHS cooperates with Unversity of Sharjah (UOS) and health sciences college in a wide range of specialties and it considers as a base of educations and research. UHS train pathology doctors and health workers in Sharjah and Emirates and all GCC being highly specialized Lab and one of the best equipped laboratory with latest developed devices and laboratory equipments. So it is a reference center to laboratory researches, specialized diagnosis and researches, which is unavailable in a lot of institutions and universities in the region or abroad.
Team At UHS After that she completed two years of fellowship training at Drexel University, Philadelphia and became American Board certified in Cytopathology in 2004.

She is a Fellow of the College of American Pathologist (FCAP).
EXPERIENCE
Dr. Majd has worked as a Consultant Pathologist at Al-Hada Armed Forces Hospital in KSA where she was the Chief Pathologist and the leader of Tumor Board Team. She also led a Fine Needle Aspiration clinic and contributed a lot towards laboratory accreditation by CAP (college of American Pathologists).

QUALIFICATIONS Dr. Majd earned her medical degree in Syria, then completed her residency training in Pathology at Washington Hospital Centre, DC in USA and became American Board certified in Anatomical and Clinical Pathology in 2003.
Dr. Jundi is currently affiliated as Assistant Professor of Pathology at University of Sharjah, as well as, as consultant Histopathologist at University Hospital Sharjah.
