About This Project

During their final term, the third year cohort developed an original play and premiered the production at the Clifftown Theatre on campus

They did this as an alternative project for their 'Events and Management' module, which usually consists of students hosting a live event, with previous years having created a festival of arts and culture along the Southend Seafront. Our third years realised that their strengths in writing, producing, technical theatre (and film) and marketing meant that they could band together and function as a production company. They used their initiative to build on their lack of applied theatre experience that came as a result of the lockdowns within the first year of their degree. This production is the only example of cross-course casting to have ever happened on the East 15 campus Many actors also commented on how lovely it was to finally have a chance to work with those from other courses

The show was incredibly well-received and had completely sold out after only five days! There was an electrifying buzz within our live audience the night of the show, and many commented on how much they had enjoyed the performance

The Show

'Da Vinci Didn't Die For This' is a riotous modernday romp packed full of slapstick silliness.

Three groups of unruly characters hunt their way through a gallery after hours Statues fall and paintings rip in this brand-new physical comedy written by our classmate Libby Viccars and produced by us third-year East 15 Creative Producing students The play follows three different storylines that intertwine The final scenes see the separate storylines combine into one big chaotic explosion
