After graduating from Barnard College in 2005 with a degree in English and Dance, Laura spent two years teaching middle school English. In 2008, Laura moved back to her hometown of Washington, DC to pursue an MA in English at Georgetown University. A summer internship sparked her interest in book publishing, and upon graduating she landed a job in the editorial department of St. Martin’s Press

where she has happily worked since June 2010. Some of Laura’s recent titles are The Marlowe Papers, The Weight of a Human Heart, and The Last Kings of Sark. In the coming months, she’s excited to publish In Some Other World, Maybe by Shari Goldhagen, and her first young adult novel, Queen of in Between by Marie Marquardt. When not reading or haunting bookshops, Laura is most likely frequenting one of the city’s many dance studios, running along the Hudson, trying a new restaurant, ogling puppies on the street, or plotting her next international getaway.

for 26 years, and on well over 100 titles with this New York Times bestseller. Gary Goldstein started his editorial career at Crown Publishing in 1986. He spent two years at Bantam Doubleday Dell (which then became “http://www. bertelsmann.com/ ”Bertelsmann AG and is now Penguin Random House) from 1988-1990. He joined Putnam Berkley Publishing in May 1990. Following his stint at Berkley, in 1997

he moved on to Simon & Schuster’s Pocket Books division (where he signed up a then-unknown author named Dan Brown and his novel ANGELS AND DEMONS). He rejoined Penguin USA in 2000 (Alpha Books division, publisher of the Complete Idiot’s Guides, which was, some say, the perfect position for him). In October 2003, he joined Kensington Publishing Group, where as Editorial Director he acquires and edits fiction for their Pinnacle Books imprint (mysteries, thrillers, westerns, and suspense), among them NY Times and USA Today bestselling authors William W. Johnstone and Marc Cameron. He currently resides in Manhattan.

Beena Kamlani is senior editor at Viking Penguin and has worked closely with many writers, foremost among them Saul Bellow and Robert Fagles. She taught book editing at New York University and was awarded the “Excellence in Teaching” award from NYU in 2002. She now teaches writing and editing at The Writing

Center at Hunter College. A speaker at many writers’ conferences across the country, she gives talks on writing, editing, reading and the development of craft. She is an awardwinning fiction writer whose work has been published in many magazines and anthologies. She lives in New York.
