Who We Are

The College of Health and Human Services at the University of New Hampshire is comprised of a broad array of health and social service oriented Departments, Centers and Institutes.

Vision

To provide education and leadership that empowers and strengthens the health and human development of individuals, families, workplaces, and our communities.

Values

The following values represent the core beliefs of the College that inspire and guide the way we interact and work with people. They are the compass for the decisions and behaviors for workforce development, scholarship, professional service, and community engagement activities.

Faculty and staff in the department of Kinesiology perform important research related to the study of human movement, health and psychological benefits of exercise, sport management, and care and prevention of athletic injuries.

The UNH Department of Nursing prepares nurses who are skilled, knowledgeable, and reflective practitioners and leaders.

For over 25 years, Northeast Passage has been a nationally recognized leader in the field of therapeutic recreation, specializing in providing innovative solutions for individuals with disabilities, including children, adults, and our nation’s military personnel.

Our Strategic Intentions

Prepare leaders for the rapidly evolving health and human services environment through high quality and innovative academic programs that enhance interprofessional understanding and interactions.

• Develop a College environment responsive to inter-professional courses, online offerings, minors, graduate certificate programs, and honors education.

• Develop and expand educational programming to include PhD and professional/clinical doctorates.

• Pursue state-of-the-art facilities.

• Intentionally teach and promote leadership development.

Recruit, retain, and reward talented and diverse faculty and staff who advance the College’s vision and mission.

• Develop strategic relationships with institutions that have doctoral degrees aligned with our areas of excellence in order to attract outstanding candidates.

• Expand on university professional development initiatives through a college cohort development program for faculty and staff.

• Encourage broad participation of faculty and staff in department, college, and university activities.

• Explore ways to develop, engage, and reward staff and faculty.

Foster and enrich interdisciplinary and translational research to meet emerging health and human services needs.

• Identify, grow, and foster research opportunities among the departments, centers, institutes, and the broader community.

• Provide and enhance internal funding mechanisms for the development of external funding opportunities.

• Enhance and support collaborations and mentorships for faculty and staff research.

• Promote opportunities for students to work with our research scholars.

COLLEGE OF HEALTH AND HUMAN SERVICES | STRATEGIC PLAN

The Child Study and Development Center is a high quality child care and education laboratory. The program has been training teachers since 1929, and in the 90’s established a curriculum rooted in the Reggio Emilia philosophy which focuses on the image of the child in relation to other children, the family, the teachers, and the community.

Actively engage internal and external constituents to pursue partnerships and collaborative initiatives that support the College’s teaching, research goals, and engagement initiatives.

• Identify and review key internal and external constituents and stakeholders for each department, center, and institute on an annual basis.

• Develop an engagement strategy to establish or maintain consistent communication with key constituents and stakeholders.

• Host annual events and initiatives to bring College faculty and staff together with key constituents and stakeholders.

Create a vital culture of philanthropy and stewardship to sustain and grow resources that support the CHHS mission.

• Identify and coordinate with University Advancement events throughout the academic year to strategically engage students, alumni, and friends of the college.

• Schedule and facilitate strategic visits and engagement activities with current and prospective donors.

• Enhance the culture of philanthropy and giving with students, parents, faculty, and staff.
