MEDIA POLICIES & INFORMATION

WELCOME!: The University of New Hampshire office of athletic communications genuinely appreciates your coverage of UNH volleyball, and looks forward to each and everytime it can welcome you to Durham. Members of the office includes volleyball contact Jon Luszcz, associate athletic director for communications Mike Murphy, associate directors of athletic communications Doug Poole and Alex Comeau and Greg Roll, assistant director of athletic communications as well as the team of student-assistants, are available to assist with your coverage.

GAMEDAY: Near the end of each home match, the athletic communciations staff will ask those on hand representing the media who they wish to speak with. Approximately 10 minutes after the conclusion of a match, head coach Jill Hirschinger and the selected student-athletes will be available for questions.

The office is happy to help you however it can. We encourage you to familiarize yourself with the policies relevant to your coverage of the volleybal program, as outlined on this page and the next. Please feel free to contact Jon Luszcz via phone or email with questions regarding the media policy.

REPORTING OF INJURIES: At all times throughout the calendar year, head coach Jill Hirschinger will serve as the sole source for injury information. All questions related to injuries should be directed to Hirschinger, and not to any other members of the program, including athletic trainers, doctors, the injured student-athlete or her teammates.

GENERAL POLICIES: All interviews with any member of the volleyball program, including head coach Jill Hirschinger, the coaching staff and student-athletes must be coordinated through Jon Luszcz in the office of athletic communictions. Members of the media are strictly prohibited from approaching any coach, staff member or student-athlete by any means, including text messages, email, phone calls (cell, office or home) or social media, such as Facebook and Twitter, without first approaching athletic communications. Regarding unique subject matter, such as human-interest angles, members of the media are welcome to approach the office of athletic communications at least 24 hours in advance with requests to interview any member of the program. Approved requests will be granted. INTERVIEW GUIDELINES: Interviews, either in person or via telephone, with members of the UNH volleyball coaching staff and student-athletes must be coordinated through assistant director of athletic communications Jon Luszcz. Media are asked not to request an individual’s personal contact information, including email and cell number, but rather to contact Jon Luszcz. Student-athletes and coaches are available for interviews at the conclusion of daily practice sessions. Student-athlete interviews will not conflict with classes, meetings, medical treatment or practice times. Interviews are not permitted in the locker room or training room. Interviews will not be granted on match days until following the contest. Telephone interviews should be requested at least 24 hours in advance and coordinated through Jon Luszcz. All interviews will be processed on an availability basis involving the requested interviewee.

GAMEDAY SERVICES: In-game services include live online statistics and box scores following each set. Lundholm Gymnasium offers complimentary wireless Internet access.

LUNDHOLM GYMNASIUM DIRECTIONS: Address: University of New Hampshire Field House 145 Main Street Durham, N.H. 03824 From Boston: Take 95 North into New Hampshire and continue on to the toll booth. From the toll, go approximately seven miles to Exit 4 for the Spaulding Turnpike. Go about four miles and take the last exit before the toll (Exit 6W) for Concord and Durham. Go approximately four miles and continue straight through a traffic light (Madbury Road), and proceed another 1 1/2 miles to the Route 155A exit, marked “University of New Hampshire.” Take a left turn off the ramp and proceed approximately one mile. The Field House will be on your right. For parking see below.
