The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) partners with people at all levels of society to help build nations that can withstand crisis, and drive and sustain the kind of growth that improves the quality of life for everyone. On the ground in more than 170 countries and territories, we offer global perspective and local insight to help empower lives and build resilient nations. In the Maldives, UNDP has worked for close to 40 years, in virtually all areas of human development from poverty eradication to democratic governance to environment protection, and climate change mitigation and adaptation. In all our work, we make concerted efforts to focus on meeting the needs of the most disadvantaged, marginalized and vulnerable groups, particularly women and youth. Our decades of experience on the ground has consistently helped the country meet its development aspirations, and to bring the voices of the people to the forefront – in turn helping to transform challenges into opportunities in the Maldives.
