2007 Philip Long was awarded The Sullivan Award, which is the highest award bestowed on a graduating senior by the faculty from Wofford College. He and his wife, Amber, are living in Boston, MA, where he is pursuing a master’s degree in divinity at Gordon Cornwell Theological Seminary.
Wyatt Ison is working and playing in Jackson Hole, WY. Conrad Blunck graduated Magna Cum Laude from Birmingham-Southern College. After graduation, he was a raft guide in West Virginia and Utah. 2008 Alex Lichtenfeld graduated from the United States Naval Academy with a B.S. in Systems Engineering in May and was commissioned as an Ensign in the United States Navy in Annapolis, MD. He is an Instrument Rated Private Pilot. He has been selected for training as a Navy pilot and reported to NASC in Pensacola in July. William Semple graduated from West Point in May and was commissioned as a
second lieutenant. He will spend several months at Fort Benning, GA completing Ranger School. Then, he will join as a platoon leader in the 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division based at Fort Knox, KY. Alex Lichtenfeld, Dana VanderLey (’10), and William Semple visited with Ed Lathan at the Army-Navy game in December 2011.
2009 Robert Willett ran a 1:51:23 in the 800 meters at the Crossplex in Birmingham in February. This was a facility record and qualified him for Division III Nationals in Track and Field. At Nationals in March, Robert placed third in the finals becoming an All-American.
Bestor Ward graduated in May from Sewanee and has moved to Charleston, SC to begin a career in Forestry. Betsy Davis Hill graduated cum laude with honors from Auburn University in May with a degree in Biomedical Sciences. At commencement, she was selected by the dean and faculty of her college to serve as a "Marshal" in the commencement procession and she was recognized for her scholastic achievement and community service at commencement. In July, Betsy began her first year at the UAB School of Dentistry along with classmate Matt Zieman. She married Trey Hill on June 2, 2012 at Ashland Place United Methodist Church in Mobile.
Joan Quittmeyer is a senior at Millsaps College, where she was awarded the Mary Sue Enochs Lewis endowed scholarship. This award is given to a woman majoring in education who has excelled academically, has demonstrated leadership through college activities, and has definite plans to teach upon graduation. She has also been selected for membership in Kappa Delta Pi, international honor society in education. She is a member of Kappa Delta Sorority.
