Eckembrecher family continues tradition in public health Alexa Eckembrecher, a first-year Master of Public Health (MPH) candidate in the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine’s Department of Public Health


Sciences, is the youngest sibling in the Eckembrecher family who will pursue graduate studies in public health. Alexa is the younger sister of two University of Miami public health alumnae, Daphne and Francelia Eckembrecher.

OFFICE OF GRADUATE PROGRAMS ANNOUNCEMENTS DPHS In-Person Instruction The Department of Public Health Sciences will resume in-person instruction on January 31st, 2021. Classes will continue in a fully remote format throughout the remainder of the month.

COVID-19 Vaccination and Testing All students will be required to complete a negative COVID test no more than 72 hours before their initial arrival to campus following the winter recess. Residential students will also be required to test again immediately upon check-in to their on-campus housing location. Students who have not documented that they are fully vaccinated will continue to test twice per week.

Spring 2022 Semester Enrollment Please review your course schedule and the number of credits enrolled in each course in CaneLink and make changes if required. If you are unable to make changes, please send Carlen Duncombe an email at cduncombe@med.miami.edu. Note that January 26th is the last day for registration and to add a course and


February 4th is the last day to drop a course without a "W".

DPHS AMBASSADOR APPLICATIONS NOW OPEN The Department of Public Health Sciences is excited to announce that we are now accepting applications for the Canes Student Ambassador Program! The program is for current students who are interested in becoming leaders, not only in the Canes community, but specifically for the Department of Public Health Sciences. DPHS Canes Student Ambassadors will interact with prospective and incoming students through the following: • • • • •

Recruitment Events Campus Tours Student Engagement Events Call Campaigns Social Media Efforts
