I also noticed that at the U, the more advanced in my coursework I got (in language studies departments, Classics, Jewish Studies, Linguistics, etc.) the whiter the classes got. So, I want to take up space in places where I don’t normally see people like myself, so that I can be the representation that shows people of color and especially black people that we’re out there, and we can go into any field we want. The Center for Jewish Studies is proud to shine a spotlight on Mica Belton, an exemplary Jewish Studies major with the most impressive portfolio of languages any of us can remember seeing in an undergraduate. And we look forward to seeing his future contributions, wherever he decides he belongs.
