Open All Year Round The latest exhibition at Carrickfergus Museum, Art & Artefacts: An exploration of our prehistoric past features a stunning display of contemporary artwork by artist Seanna O’Boyle- Irvine and real prehistoric objects. Showcasing some of the reality of life in the stone and bronze ages and combining it with modern art to create a visually striking contrast. Talks with Dr David Hume at Larne Museum & Arts Centre The Man Who Built O’Halloran’s Castle: Dr James McHenry and His Life and Times Thursday 30 March | 7.30pm - 9pm O’Halloran’s Castle on the Antrim coast was a figment of the imagination of Larne author Dr. James McHenry, and featured in his novel O’Halloran or The Insurgent Chief. Almost forgotten today, he is a major 19th century figure who links Ulster and America. Primary Sources: Eyewitnesses to History Thursday 27 April | 7.30pm - 9pm A talk looking at documentary accounts of events in local history, bringing events to life through the eyes of those who witnessed and participated in them. From Here to the White House: Presidential Links to Larne Thursday 25 May | 7.30pm - 9pm A talk examining the connections which Larne has to the Presidency, with at least three Presidents and a Vice President, not to mention a former President of Texas having their ancestral roots in the area.

Minerals and Mining in County Antrim Thursday 8 June | 7.30pm - 9pm A talk which examines the history of mining in County Antrim, which had its heyday in the 19th and early 20th century with extraction of iron ore, bauxite, salt, and coal. Contemporary History, The Best Tonic: Hospital Radio in Larne Thursday 29 June | 7.30pm - 9pm This talk examines the beginnings of a unique broadcasting station in Larne and charts the history of the station over the years.

Larne Museum & Arts Centre is housed in the historic former Carnegie Free Library building in Larne. The museum boasts a Temporary Exhibitions Gallery along with a Main Gallery with permanent displays reflecting the agricultural, industrial, military and maritime history of the area.
