ULM MEDIA RELATIONS The ULM media relations department welcomes your interest in Warhawk athletics. We will make every effort to facilitate your coverage of our programs. The media relations department maintains information on all current student-athletes, as well as historical information on previous athletes and the program in general. MEDIA GUIDELINES • Interviews with any staff members or players should be scheduled through the athletic media relations staff. To schedule interviews with coaches, staff members or student-athletes, please contact the ULM media relations department. • We ask that you do not arrive unannounced at the football office, Malone Stadium or dining hall to interview a player or coach. To ensure availability and attendance, media members interviews will be facilitated by the ULM media relations department. INTERVIEW PROCEDURES (WEEKLY) • ULM head coach Charlie Weatherbie is available for interviews, both over the phone and in person, most days before or after practice in the evenings. Interview requests must be made at least 24 hours in advance through the ULM media relations department • Weatherbie will not be available for interview requests from print media on competition days before games. Weatherbie, and other members of the coaching staff, will be made available following the conclusion of all ULM games upon request. • All interviews of student-athletes must be conducted through the ULM media relations department. Dependent upon availability, student-athletes can
be made accessible at various times during the day before or following the conclusion of practice. To ensure this availability, please contact or give notice of request at least 24 hours prior to desired interview. • The ULM lockerroom, training room, or dormitories are closed to all members of the media - NO EXCEPTIONS. Student-athletes will be made available to members of the media on the field around practice or at another designated spot during the week. • To ensure the privacy for all ULM student-athletes, no individual cell phone numbers or E-mail addresses will be provided for members of the media. • ULM’s regularly scheduled weekly practices will remain open to members of the media unless otherwise stated. Video cameras must be turned off for team drills and may be turned back on for interviews to be conducted at the end of each practice. INTERVIEW PROCEDURES (GAME DAY) • In most instances, ULM student-athletes will be made available to members of the media following an NCAA-mandated cooling off period at the end of each contest. Members of the media are asked to have their final requests made with six minutes remaining in the fourth quarter. • Postgame interviews will not be conducted on the field. The Scoggin Room on the ground level of Malone Stadium serves as the site for home postgame interviews. Visitor interviews will be conducted at a site of the opposing media relations department’s choosing. • The ULM lockerroom is closed to all members of the media.
INTERVIEW PROCEDURES (AWAY GAMES) • All ULM walkthroughs are closed to members of the media. ULM head coach Charlie Weatherbie will be made available to opposing media immediately prior to taking the field for walk through if notice is given 24 hours prior. ULM COACHES SHOWS/TELECONFERENCES • ULM head coach Charlie Weatherbie will be made available to members of the media weekly on Mondays on the Sun Belt Conference Coaches’ Teleconference at approximately 10:56 a.m. For the call in number of the teleconference, contact the ULM media relations department or Sun Belt associate commissioner for communications John McElwain, (504) 299-9066, ext. 215. • ULM’s weekly press conference will be held Tuesday’s at 2 p.m. in the Scoggin Room on the ground level of Malone Stadium. Head coach Charlie Weatherbie and requested student-athletes will be made available. All player requests must be made to the media relations department by 3 p.m. Monday afternoon. • Charlie Weatherbie’s weekly satellite feed through the Sun Belt Conference will be made available to members of the media. Contact Sun Belt associate commissioner for communications John McElwain for availability. Feed includes head coach Charlie Weatherbie, ULM student-athletes, and highlights from the previous week’s game.
