Lot 341 A part William and Mary and later walnut veneered kneehole desk, of small proportions circa 1700, the oblong quarter-veneered moulded top with herringbone inlaid border, above a single long frieze drawer with herringbone inlay over a central recessed cupboard with a single hinged door, flanked by two sets of three deep drawers with herringbone inlay and brass swing handles with engraved back plates, raised on four later bracket feet, alterations and additions, 29½in (75cm) wide, 32in (81cm) high, 20½ (52cm) deep. £500-700 See Illustration. Lot 342 An early 20th century mahogany drinks cabinet the two part moulded and hinged top 342 with rising action to reveal a well with removable glass based drinks tray, above a carved frieze set on four cabriole supports with knurled feet and brass casters, £80-100 See Illustration.

Lot 345 Victorian upholstered and mahogany framed armchair set on front cabriole supports with ceramic castors + another (2). £60-80 Lot 346 Victorian figured and burr walnut Sutherland table with twin oval drop leaves, set on two turned and fluted supports joined by a turned stretcher, with two turned gateleg supports for the leaves, raised on carved cabriole supports with brass castors, 41½ x 35in (105½ x 89cm) opened, 28in (71cm) high. £60-80 See Illustration. 346

Lot 347 A set of eight mahogany dining chairs comprising one carver and seven dining chairs, with carved and pierced splat backs, above drop-in seats (8) £250-300 * Of Royal Provenance. The carver with engraved silver plaque ‘This chair was used by H.M. Queen Mary on the occasion of the Royal Visit to Guernsey, July 11th 1921’ See Illustration. 347

Lot 348 Colonel Cornelius Francis James (British, 1838-1889) Temple of Mahadev, Old Mahabaleshcwar, India watercolour 16 x 12½in (41 x 64½cm) £300-350 * This temple is very sacred in India. The water that flows from the mouth of the statue of the cow is said to be the source of the river Krishna that flows beneath the temple. * Colonel C.F.James was an accomplished Military Officer as well as a respected artist, who exhibited widely. His work was admired by Queen Victoria during an exhibition in 1878 at Aldershot. An Exhibition of his works ‘An Artist On The March’ was held in Association with The Guernsey Museum and Art Gallery in 1989, and a book which includes a reproduction of this painting on page 36 gives further details of watercolours by this artist and details of his notable Military exploits and career. A copy of this book to be included with the lot. See Illustration. Lot 349 Follower of Daniel Maclise R.A. (Irish, 1806-1870) A portrait Col. Frederick Leckie and his family oil on canvas 22 x 28½in (56 x 72½cm). £1,000-1,500 * Frederick Leckie was born in 1847 and served in the war in Afghanistan 1879-80 as staff officer for transport. He was awarded the Afghanistan medal with one clasp for Kandahar. See Illustration. 349
