Welcome, Wildcat! We are the School of Inform B.A. or B.S. in Information Communication Technology (ICT) is offered by the School of Information Science at the University of Kentucky.

The ICT program encompasses business, communication, and technical know-how. We offer an array of courses, workshops, and events that support special topics and develops skill sets. A degree in ICT is the first step towards a career that will continue to evolve as technology expands the way we create, store, and share information.

Brief Career Outlook

ICT is a rapidly emerging field that encompasses many job categories throughout private and public sectors. Infoworld’s Computerworld surveyed 501 managers who had hired IT professionals in 2014. Here are a few of their job growth projections from 2012-2022: Medical Records & Health 15% Information Technicians 17% Data Management 20% Web developers 37% Security Analysts

We collaborate with campus organizations and local businesses to educate and prepare students for ICT opportunities before and after graduation. Students will gain hands on experience by completing an internship (ICT 596) as part of the undergraduate curriculum.

Learn how emerging technologies have led to the development of ICT as a discipline; its applications in the workplace and personal contexts; and its impact on individuals, organizations and societies. We partner with the Institute for the International Education of Students (IES) each summer to offer ICT majors a language and culture program in Berlin, Germany. Students can enroll in two courses for six credit hours - which counts towards graduation! Win-Win.

Why Berlin? Berlin is a modern city rebuilt on a tumultuous past. Let history surround you in Berlin, as you see the future boldy reflected in the architecture, innovation, and culture that characterize the great city today. To top it off, Germany is a leader in ICT strategy!

Bonus: The ICT program offers two $2,000 education abroad scholarships each cycle to declared ICT majors. You only need to be a major to qualify!

You’re Invited! See ICT in Fall 2016 Brown Bag Breakfast if you’re enrolled or interested in an ICT course this fall, please join us for breakfast at the beginning of the semester. You will have a chance to talk with ICT professors about learning objectives, future projects, potential research, etc.

German Art Displays explore German fashion + art in the third floor lobby of the Little Library. You will be glad you did! Learning the Interview Game a career development seminar on personal branding and tackling the interview process.

Industry Showcases the program will host four employers in the Little Library throughout the semester. These employers have been identified as having ICT opportunities (internships, co-ops, or full-time jobs). Marikka’s with ICTSA the ICT Student Association (ICTSA) will host students who are interested in the IES Berlin program for dinner at Marikka’s, a local German restaurant. This event is sponsored by the School of Information Science.
