What is Double Racing ? ®

Double Racing® is the next step in endurance running’s evolution and quite possibly the most original running challenge of the 21st Century.

Y

es, that is a bold statement. And to claim it, a running event had better offer more than a start line and a finish time. It had better match the passion and raw challenge that has driven endurance running since its birth on the plains of Marathon in 490 B.C.—when Pheidippides ran himself to death carrying news of Persia’s defeat by the Greeks. Nowadays, more than a half-million American runners each year accomplish what Pheidippides couldn’t: They survive a marathon. Fifteen million more cross finish lines for race distances ranging One race. Two Stages. Three events at every Festival. from No mud puddles. No barbed wire. No obstacles to climb. road mile The ultimate pure-running challenge of our time. sprints to ultras. Just finishing a race isn’t the challenge it was in the past (say, in 490 B.C.). Or, at least, just finishing once isn’t enough.

Double Racing® will take you where you haven’t gone before— to two finish lines in one day and a race experience unlike any you’ve known. A Double Road Race® is: • Two race stages: A longer stage, followed by a shorter stage • Halftime: A break between stages, served in the recovery zone • The Festival: Live music, food, games for kids, and fun for all A Double Road Race® is an adventure you’ll never forget. In fact, it’s two adventures you’ll never forget. To sign up for a race today, see our Calendar of events on Page 2 of this magazine. Double Racing® events are being scheduled around the world. Many more to come. This is your chance to become a Double Runner.

“Loved the San Juan Bautista Double Racing Festival. It was a total blast! My friends and I enjoyed it,” -Angie Young

“Really enjoyed the massage during halftime. There was plenty of water and snacks for everyone. I can honestly say this was one of the best races I have participated in. Can’t wait to do it again.” -Mariella Macias “One of the coolest races I’ve been associated with in all my years of racing, especially running back to back stages with the halftime in between.” -Kerry McDermott

“The Double is an awesome race. It is one I will do again and again. I absolutely loved the halftime - it made me feel recovered and rejuvenated to finish the race.” -Beth Parker

“Incredible event! The recovery zone rocks.” -Alan Reynolds

DOUBLE Racing® Welcome to the 3rd Annual Pleasanton Double Racing® Festival

For the third year, we return to the place where the new sport of Double Road Racing was born, Pleasanton was the site of the first-ever Double in America on Dec. 23, 2012. This year, we are even adding two new Double Races to this annual event to let all participants employ the strategies of Double Racing, experience the Recovery Zone ("Running With A Halftime), and enjoy the live music and food at the finish line Festival. The 2014 Double 15K Leader Board awards will be presented at this event on Saturday evening at Club Sport, which also kicks off the 2015 season including a $5000 increase in prize money. In recognition of the 3rd anniversary of Double Racing, we are also announcing, and releasing, the first issue of our new Double Runner® magazine. This bimonthly publication is written by runners for runners to share their expertise and advice on Double Racing and all aspects of running. Subscribe today and support our new sport! And, of course, the competition itself will be more exciting than ever as runners of all ages take to the streets of this beautiful city on the same flat and fast course where it all began.
