Belgium, 15 January 2015. In Verviers, a member of the police tactical unit raided a terrace house where three IS terrorists were planning an attack. The gunfight was the beginning of a terror wave in both Belgium and France.

Chief Inspector Lionel D. of the Special Intervention Unit was on the front line. And now, for the first time, a member of the Federal Police Special Units talks openly about his life and work. In the book he focuses on the intensive training, the life and death commitment and the daily battle against gangsters and tyrants. The book is about how his family kept him going and how it felt to have another child during this waging war on terror. It’s about how the hunt for Abdeslam changed the life of his colleagues and himself forever.

Lionel D. is Chief Inspector of the Directorate of Special Units, which is part of the Belgian Federal Police. It’s the best trained intervention unit in Belgium and the last unit to call upon in the fight against terrorists. Annemie Bulté is a senior journalist for the weekly magazine Humo and co-author of the successful Overlever van de Bende van Nijvel.

On the 9th of August 2020, Alexander Lukashenko was ‘re-elected’ President of Belarus for the 6th time. Once again, the election was grotesquely rigged, which led to what would end up being the most deadly protests in recent Belarusian history.

This is the story of a new generation of Belarusians faced by a disconnected tyrant. Qadir grows up in warridden Afghanistan. He survives by working for the troops who came to liberate his country, until he too has to flee. He and his family cross mountains and seas, finally reaching Europe, but the Great Gatekeeper refuses to let them in. And yet there is hope.

A true-life, topical story that touches your heart.

Will we all become astronauts? According to expert Nancy Vermeulen, this is a fact beyond dispute.

But are we ready for a space economy, for commercial space travel, weightless production processes and all other opportunities and challenges that are awaiting us on the other side of the atmosphere?

Leo Bormans is onderzoeker, journalist en schrijver van boeken als The World Book of Happiness en The World Book of Hope.
