Rats are dirty. Bats carry scary diseases. Moles ruin your garden. And foxes steal your hens. Every single one of these animals are hated by people. But is that justified? In this tribute to 12 animals with a bad reputation, Karen Soeters, the most famous animal rescuer from the Netherlands, shows us why each animal is beautiful, useful and important in their own way.

You Filthy Animal! contains 12 entertaining and informative stories about animals, with fascinating facts, filled with love for animals and many witty illustrations by the De Kort family.

Karen Soeters is an advocate for animal welfare, speaker and chairwoman, founder of AnimalsToday.nl and House of Animals, communication scientist and until recently managing director of the Nicolaas G. Pierson Foundation. She often appears on talk shows and programmes on current affairs when the topic is animal rights. ‘I want to be a voice for animals, because they don’t have one,’ is what she says about her work.
