Idaho Drops Boxing Increa ed operational costs and an apparent lack of general interest toward boxing caused the University administration to drop the sport from its athletic program. The 1954 Vandals fought to an un impressive record of one draw and fi ve losses. Highlighting the season, however , was the winning of the runner-up spot in the National Collegiate Athletic Association 147-pound division by the Vandal captain, Lynn N ichols. H e also received a sportsmanship trophy at the Pacific Coast Invitationa l match. Pictured lower left is Coach Frank Young, who fini hed his sixth year as the Idaho ring tutor.
