UHD Welcomes Two New Deans DoVeanna Fulton has joined UHD as dean of the College of Humanities and Social Sciences. “It is rewarding to lead a college of faculty committed to student success and research that engages both scholarly and local communities. With these faculty, the College of Humanities and Social Sciences is at the center of the mission of UHD, which is to be a premier urban university.” Fulton comes to UHD from the University of Alabama, where, as an associate professor, she created the department of Gender and Race Studies (one of the first of its kind in the nation) and served as founding chair. She also served as director of Graduate Studies and director of African-American Studies. She is the author of several books pertaining to African-American women’s discursive practices and is a member of numerous professional organizations.

Michael Fields joined UHD as dean of the College of Business. “I am delighted to join UHD and look forward to working with businesses to develop programs that meet their needs and serve our students,” said Fields. Fields comes to UHD from Nova Southeastern University (NSU) in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., where he served as dean of the H. Wayne Huizenga School of Business and Entrepreneurship. Prior to joining NSU, Fields served as dean of the College of Business Administration at Central Michigan University.
