THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 2, 2023 - SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 4, 2023

DOUBLE BILL!

Magic Hands

This show is about how chance can be used to discover the world around you. It details the experience of a biracial Black multi-medium artist currently living in Southeast Texas. Magic Hands is a metaphor related to gambling, and how the cards we are dealt at birth can shape who we become later in life. Furthermore, how one can manage and redirect the cards based on inspiration. How can we use art to discover the complexities of identity? How has chance informed your house of cards?

Widow

This staged reading of a one-act play is, on the surface, a tale of tomfoolery, horseplay, and faking one’s death. To delve deeper into this story of identity theft is to realize the nuances of being rich, poor, and something in between, perhaps? Widow capitalizes on the ideas of the character foil: a rich, old money, foolish couple versus a young, working class, soon-to-be-out-of-work pair. Follow the characters as they explore what it means to be alive and well in the house of an eccentric, overstated, possibly mad woman.

THURSDAY, APRIL 18, 2024 - SATURDAY, APRIL 20, 2024

Elmer Gantry

This is an adapted, immersive theatre performance based on the 1927 novel written by Sinclair Lewis. Elmer Gantry is a satirical story about a philandering former college athlete who finds their way into the ministry and the continuous follies that follow. This production adaptation sets itself in present day, engaging a closer look into current ministry practices to negotiate, confront, and balance the author views almost 100 years later. What lessons can we learn from merging the past into the present as we follow the title character in their struggles and triumphs?
