The University of Houston-Clear Lake Art School for Children and Young Adults is the university’s longest running community outreach program. Our program offers art enrichment classes for youth in the Bay Area and sponsors research in visual arts education. Faculty, art teachers and university students work together to provide model art classes at the university and in public school locations. Each child or young adult is encouraged to progress at his or her own pace in acquiring developmentally-appropriate skills. We offer art classes for students for K - 12.
A special focus of the curriculum is the art of the world’s varied cultures and the contributions of major artists. UHCL art education and pre-service teachers work collaboratively to create the curriculum. Below are details for enrolling individual students to our already established schedule.
• Class length: 1 hour for K-5 and 2 hours for 6-12
• Enrollment max: 14 students per section
• Duration: each section is once a week for 8 weeks (10 weeks for grades 6-12)
• Cost: $120 - $170 depending on the class
• Location: UHCL Arbor Main Building
Do you have a group of students that you want to be in one class? We can provide all the curriculum, supplies, and teachers for your students in our art rooms at the UHCL campus. We have a variety of days and times to hopefully best suit your needs.
