The 181/2" wide sand catchers keep the area around the pit neat and allow for excess sand storage. Aluminum grating and resilient perforated mats cover the sand catcher and are guaranteed to withstand lightweight vehicle traffic. Custom made in modular panels for a perfect fit, the UCS Aluminum Pit Cover is constructed out of our exclusive double-legged supported 91/2" x 11/2" x 1/8" tongue-and-groove interlocking aluminum planking. The 21/2" x 11/2" x 1/4" aluminum angle frame provides a flush or recessed pit cover. The underside is reinforced for extra strength with a 21/2" x 11/2" x 1/4" aluminum angle. Each cover panel features four recessed aluminum handles for ease in removing and replacing the cover. Synthetic surfacing provided by surfacing contractor.

Secured to the box with four stainless steel bolts, the cover is recessed by /2" (13mm) to receive synthetic surfacing by the surfacing contractor or can be ordered with our black mat filler kit. After installation the main cover is removed only to add or repair utilities. Openings on the cover measure 61/2"x 83/8" and includes one pair of locking, removable hand hole lids. The solid lid goes in when the box is not in use keeping utilities safe and dry. When black mat filler kit is purchased, hand hole lids will have black synthetic surface applied.

MODEL #712-1250 COMMUNICATION B0X ARTIFICIAL TURF/GRASS For turf fields the installer brings the artificial turf (provided by the customer) over the edge of the box and uses the turf clamps to anchor it securely in place to match the surrounding field. The main cover has a 1/4" aluminum plate and a 3/4" plywood layer and is locked in place by toggle locks. The turf is secured to the plywood layer and then screwed to the aluminum plate. Openings on the cover measure 61/4"x 81/8" while the hand hole lids, manufactured with a 1/4" aluminum plate and a 1/2" plywood layer, are wrapped with turf and lock securely into the main cover. During events wires are passed through the wire chase on the cover openings while the hand hole lids are in place. For use in natural grass fields, cover and box can be ordered with UCS artificial turf kit pre-installed (Model 712-1260). Grass or sod can then be installed right against the side of the box.

Double the space inside your Communication Box with the purchase of the Communication Box Riser 712-1170 (Diagram A). The Riser will increase the depth by 107/8" and is compatible with both models.

UCS MESH PIT COVERS
uCS Communication boxes offer a solution to the aesthetic, safety, and accessibility needs of sports field utilities. Available in two models: the 712-1150 for synthetic surfacing or a mat filler kit and the 712-1250 for artificial turf or grass.The structural 1/ " (6mm) aluminum covers create a strong and rust resistant box providing years of rugged use. Communication Boxes guarantee a 4 completely level finished surface with covers that blend well into the surrounding surfacing with easy access to the equipment. Simple removal of the lockable lids allows equipment to be connected or removed as needed. When the lids are in place the slots on either side of the hand hole enable wires to pass through. The open box bottom allows conduit access and proper drainage. Measuring 191/4" x 363/8" x 127/8", both models provide four leveling bolts for perfect installation.
