Dear Members,
Unfortunately, another month has slipped away without being able to see any of you. I am eagerly awaiting the day we can reopen the Club and welcome all of you back. In the meantime, I am pleased at the response to our prepared meals and groceries to-go service. It has been wonderful not having to cook every night. I hope some of you saw the article in the News Press about our to-go meals. And if you like wine, I hope you have taken advantage of the amazing prices being offered on our bottles of wine. I have already purchased several cases to add to our wine collection.
Despite being closed, the Board and key staff members have been working tirelessly to prepare the Club for reopening. In furtherance of that goal, I am so proud of the all the hard work Sarah put in to acquiring a PPP loan. Your generous donations have helped the Club with some much-needed operating expenses, and now the PPP loan will allow us to ensure our staff is fully compensated for their hard work.
As we traverse these uncertain times, the staff and Board ask for your patience, understanding, and support. But we also welcome your feedback. We are your Club and we are here to make your membership as beneficial as possible. So please, do not hesitate to reach out to me or Sarah with your ideas, questions, or concerns. Along those lines, I am excited to say Sarah, Chef, and your Board, have come up with new and exciting ways to improve your membership experience.
It will likely be some time before the Club will be able to host large events such as weddings again. As many of you know, our membership dues make up a very small portion of our income—the Club relies on private events for the bulk of its revenue. Over the course of this next year, the Club will be transitioning away from this economic model to a more membership focused Club—relying on events and weddings to improve Club facilities rather than pay Club expenses.
We look forward to the day when we can reopen our doors and welcome you to the new and improved University Club. In the meantime, we hope you are taking advantage of the wine sales and prepared meals and that all of you are safe and healthy.
