Key comments from members • The advocacy role of the Global Taskforce is not over, but might take new forms, in particular based on actions • We need to deliver in the implementation of the agendas and define guidelines to move forward • We need to think about strengthening the structure of the Global Taskforce without creating a new organization. We might think of creating working groups on specific issues to be led by one of the organizations (cf. financing) • There is an increasing need to enhance the knowledge of our shared membership and better inform them • We must ensure collaboration and coordination both in our message and our initiatives, to enable us to effectively communicate as a constituency • We need to strengthen the voice of regional governments within the Global Taskforce • We should open up to new members • We must continue developing joint global campaigns – think about a new hashtag to represent the diverse identity of the networks of the Global Taskforce

World Assembly of Local and Regional Governments – Next steps Participants expressed agreement with the proposals made in the background document circulated before the meeting. It was confirmed that there is a general consensus that following the successful edition of the second World Assembly, both the political and the technical consultation mechanisms can continue to play an important role to enhance joint action. Beyond the follow up of the political processes, the Global Taskforce could also serve as a policy exchange lab where local and reginal government networks can exchange on priority areas identified by the members. It would also be possible to organize political inputs into specific policy areas led by different members and to call special sessions of the World Assembly at relevant moments.
