Only if we act together can we create a better and safer world for all of our citizens. Engagement in the political process by Northern local authorities could have a massive direct impact on the achievement of the Millennium Development Goals if we can ensure that national governments act to fulďŹ l their responsibilities under the Millennium Declaration. Political engagement is a powerful tool which is complementary to the many other practical measures put in place by local governments and local leaders to achieve the Goals.
