UCL CHEMICAL ENGINEERING
POSTGRADUATE
CHEMICAL ENGINEERING AT UCL
WHAT IS CHEMICAL ENGINEERING? Chemical engineers apply scientific and technological expertise to develop processes which alter the chemical, physical, or biochemical state of materials.
With an emphasis on safety, sustainability and cost-effectiveness, as a chemical engineer your skills will be in demand worldwide for the manufacture of essential products.
CHEMICAL ENGINEERING AT UCL Research is a core activity in the department, and it covers a broad range of scales from the molecular to the complex systems level. We aim to create pioneering breakthroughs in science and technology and seek solutions to Grand Challenges (such as energy, materials, sustainable manufacturing, health and environment), based on significant advances in fundamental knowledge. To this end, we collaborate widely with other departments in UCL Engineering, Chemistry and beyond,
as well as various academic and industrial research groups. Our research is divided in five Research Groups (Catalysis & Reaction Engineering, Electrochemical Engineering, Multiphase Systems, Product & Process Systems Engineering and Molecular and Engineering Thermodynamics) and three research centres (EPSRC Centre for Nature Inspired Engineering, Centre for CO2 Technology, and Centre for Process Systems Engineering).
HOW WE TEACH UCL Engineering is a diverse and ambitious faculty with world-leading research, a focus on innovation, and a vibrant educational community. We actively encourage diversity and inclusivity in our recruitment, learning, and assessment, providing a distinctive and empowering education for all. Embarking on postgraduate study is an intense and challenging commitment. You will be part of a community seeking to push the boundaries of our knowledge by applying theoretical rigour and fundamental
principles to challenge ideas. We engage all our students in creating an environment that will enable them to flourish and realise their potential. Our ten departments recruit intelligent, creative graduates with a passion for learning and self-development, and a desire to change the world. Our Postgraduate education gives these individuals the life skills and subject knowledge they require to become leaders in their chosen fields.
