KEYNOTE SPEAKER SANDY HOLMAN Sandy Holman has presented to thousands on a variety of topics such as transforming systems, inequitable structures, dismantling racism/supremacy ideology and practices, the achievement gap, resiliency, and institutional best practices for change. She focuses special attention on culturally relevant and responsive services and materials. As founder of the Culture C.O.-O.P., she assists organizations working with equity/diversity. She has served as a consultant to countless organizations in a variety of disciplines, locally, nationally, and internationally, to help meet the needs of diverse/marginalized populations. She strives to encourage people to love themselves and others and share power and resources in the world.
CAREER SKILLS PLENARY SPEAKERS Ellison Weeks is a Principal Customer Success Manager on LinkedIn’s Global Clients Program team. In this role, he advises talent leaders at Fortune 100 companies on the design and delivery of globally scalable learning initiatives. He is committed to advancing diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging. In particular, he’s focused on helping folks from underrepresented communities access professional opportunities in the tech sector. His career spans social work, international education, talent development, and tech. The first in his family to attend college, Ellison obtained a B.A. in Communication Studies from CSU Northridge, with a minor in Japanese language.
Ken Barnes is an Assistant Director at the UC Davis Internship and Career Center (ICC) and sees students interested in International opportunities and Student Employment. He graduated from UC Davis with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and a minor in Managerial Economics. He is also vice president of the Robla School District Board of Trustees in Sacramento, California. Through his education and experience, he has worked hard to keep students connected with the complex worlds of business, politics, education, and law.

Location: International Center 3119 Come participate in a fun and creative exercise designed to guide you as you reflect on your global experiences and think about how you will apply them moving forward. Vision boards can serve as a powerful tool for identifying your values and applying them moving forward in our interconnected world.

How to Become a Digital Nomad
Location: International Center 1206 With remote work here to stay we have the opportunity to work from anywhere. The Head of Public Relations from Nomads Giving Back! will share her experience and tips for successfully starting a digital nomad career. We will also explore the benefits of the digital nomad lifestyle and specific skills that will allow you to be successful in the digital professional space, and navigate intercultural workspaces, both real and virtual.
“Take a Stand” as a Globally-Minded Citizen!
Location: International Center 1204 We live in an interconnected world that sorely lacks globally minded citizens. Through an interactive exercise that elicits participant responses to global issues, participants grow in their awareness of how we make meaning and the critical importance of personal experiences, whether they involve studying abroad, or learning from our peers’ intercultural lives at home. Group participation, discussion and reflection around our global selves aim to prompt awareness and action.

Location: International Center 1204 Are you looking to go overseas after you graduate? This session will showcase opportunities sponsored by the U.S. government – Peace Corps, Fulbright, and the Critical Language Scholarship. Learn about the application processes, benefits, and what each program is like. Open to U.S. citizens only per the programs’ eligibility requirements.
Exploring Careers in Global Policy
Location: International Center 1206 Interested in career opportunities in the diplomacy, national security or international development fields? Hear from Global Affairs staff who have worked for the U.S. Department of State, the UN, other U.S. Government agencies, and non-governmental organizations to advance peace and security, human rights, and gender equality issues. Learn about pathways for these types of careers, opportunities and challenges in engaging with global policy issues, and professional competencies that are important to develop.
