Beginning Web Development

Students will learn how to create a basic web page, starting with HTML and touches on Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) and graphic design principles. In this course, students will refine their skills, learn more about drawing drapery, study how to reproduce different types of textures and add color to drawings through colored pencils, pastels and watercolor washes. A supply list will be provided upon registration.

Photo Books: Preserving Memories

Portraits in a Day

Splash of Watercolor: Learn the Basics I

EARLY FEE: $100; REG. FEE: $110 THR; SEPT 8 – OCT 13 6 – 8 PM; BHCC MARYANN SCHIGUR Splash of Watercolor: Learn the Basics I is a 6-week course for beginners. There is no “right” or “wrong” approach to painting with watercolors. However, once you have mastered the traditional techniques, it gives you the opportunity to express yourself with line, shape, value, color and texture. The focus will be on wet into wet, flat and graded washes, brush strokes, hard and soft edges, mixing colors, and a value study. Go with the flow and relax while you play with many techniques one step at a time. Enjoy the process, no anxiety about drawing or creating a masterpiece. The provided lessons will help you master the basic skills. After these six lessons, you will choose your own subject matter to paint.

These can be your own or magazine photos of things that you would like to paint. You will concentrate on cultivating the “artist’s eye.” Pick what appeals to you, but make sure it has big elements, strong shapes, and a variety of light and dark tones to help you simplify. You will ignore color and irrelevant details, while you search out the essential basic structure. Changes will be made before you start to draw and paint from the photo. Children under 16 may hunt without hunter education as long as they are under the direct supervision of an adult who is 21 years old and has a valid hunting license. There is no specific age requirement to enroll in hunter education. However, the educational material is based on a sixth-grade reading level. Arkansas recognizes hunter education cards from other states. Arkansas’s hunter education program is recognized in all states as well as in Canada and Mexico. Further information about Arkansas hunting guidelines may be obtained through the Arkansas Hunting Guidebook, by calling 1.800.482.5795, or online at www.agfc. com. Students will explore the constellations and discover the hidden treasures, galaxies, nebulas and use some of the latest in imaging technology to capture the Moon, planets, and galaxies in photographs they can keep. Enroll and rediscover your childhood wonder of the night sky in this non-technical, down-to-Earth course.

Not Your Mother’s Make Up

Students will feel improvements in overall strength, endurance, flexibility and body awareness. Great focus will be placed on alignment and breath transitions from pose to pose. There is no need to feel intimidated; all fitness levels are encouraged. Students must bring mat to class.

Both traditional and non-traditional students can take advantage of a course in which they set the pace of the class and fit in homework and tests based upon their individual schedules.
