Releases FY21 Top 10 Violations List

SHA recently released its annual list of Top 10 OSHA violations for FY21. As expected, the list of cited standards remained essentially the same as last year with Fall Protection (1926.501) leading the list for the eleventh year in a row. The statistics were released by OSHA at the annual convention of The National Safety Council (NSC) held in Orlando, Florida. They represent OSHA’s FY21 that ended September 30, 2021.
The big news for 2021 was that all of the Top 10 standards saw reductions in the number of violations issued between FY20 and FY21. This continues a steady reduction in violations seen in every category over the last four years. Looking at the last four years of data, the Top 10 categories have seen citations being reduced anywhere from -5% (Personal Protection Equipment) to -57% (Hazard Communication).
