Your philanthropy transformed big ideas into impact across the University of Cincinnati and UC Health.
Here are just a few of those stories.
Anonymous gift, enormous impact
The Webster-Gustin Scholarship provides full tuition to UC medical school for 50 students, while honoring Cincinnati physicians Warren Webster, MD, and Byron Gustin, MD, both of UC College of Medicine’s class of 1970.
“That someone would care that much about investing in this community—that some person, without even knowing me, would invest in my future— is overwhelming. I get choked up just thinking about it.”
Justin Kenney, COM ’24 Webster-Gustin Scholarship recipient
Procter & Gamble’s pledge to expand workforce development opportunities for students jointly at the College of Engineering and Applied Science and the College of Design, Architecture, Art, and Planning is transforming lives and shaping our future.
Since 2021:
“Investing in people and the futures they will create requires a lot of faith. I appreciate P&G’s trust in me to be to be an agent of impact within design.”
James Avant, A&S ’15, MDes ’23, First P&G Diversity in Design Fellow
Patrice Barnes, A&S ’11, created a scholarship for first-generation college students. Her own selfdescribed non-linear path to success took grit, resilience and guidance from campus leaders.
“I want to be that bridge for someone who has a dream and just needs a little help to make that happen.”
In November 2020, the Robert and Adele Schiff Family Foundation made a transformational $10 million gift to support the University of Cincinnati Cancer Center Survivorship Program’s growth into a national leader in care, research and education in this critical field.
This gift has helped a vital area of cancer care by expanding supportive services and hiring researchers and clinicians.
1,300 patient visits
“Mr. Hoffman’s personal connection highlights the impact of watching someone suffer with this disease. It will change you. This gift is about service and taking care of your fellow human beings.”

Health Multidisciplinary ALS Clinic
ALS, Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, is a progressive fatal neurodegenerative disease. There is no cure. Yet.
A $13.5 million gift from the estate of Hugh H. Hoffman, MBA ’63, will revolutionize ALS research and care at the UC Gardner Neuroscience Institute. This includes the creation of two endowed chairs, for clinical care and research.
Hoffman was passionate about supporting ALS research and patient care through several organizations, because his father Herbert H. Hoffman died from the disease.
In 2016, a $15 million gift from Richard Rosenthal advances the efforts of the Ohio Innocence Project (OIP) at UC’s Lois and Richard Rosenthal Institute for Justice—the most significant donation for UC Law and any innocence program.
To date, 42 wrongly convicted Ohioans have been released because of OIP’s work (while also inspiring a book, a TED talk and an opera!)
On our seventh annual UC Day of Giving Bearcats show their spirit and support, through more than The Bearcat Spirit Squad, which consists of the UC Cheerleaders, Dance Team and Bearcat mascot, combined with Bearcat Bands received over

In FY24, 7,356 donors made a gift on Giving Tuesday and UC Day of Giving combined.
As the recipient of the Margaret K. Valentine Tennis Scholarship at UC, Lauren Bellinger, Bus ’17, received more than financial support, she also had two fans rooting her on from the sideline.
From the beginning of Lauren’s time at UC on the Women’s Tennis team, Margaret and Michael Valentine showed their enthusiasm and care by attending her matches.
The scholarship was the first fully endowed scholarship for a women’s sport at UC.
UC’s new era as a Power 4 school began with the groundbreaking of a multimillion-dollar Indoor Practice Facility and Performance Center, and long-term strategic partnerships that benefit UC’s programs and the renovation of the men’s and women’s basketball locker rooms.
