Drs. Leonard Joffe and Reid Schindler have been evaluating and treating retinal conditions for more than 35 years. They and Dr. Matthew Welch specialize in treatment of diseases of the retina and vitreous, such as Macular Degeneration, Diabetic Retinopathy, OcularTumors, Retinal Tear/Detachment, Vein Occlusions and other rare conditions. Dr. Joffe, who trained in South Africa; Edinburgh, Scotland; and Wills Eye Hospital in Philadelphia, has practiced in Tucson for 34 years. He particularly enjoys diagnostic challenges and has been listed in Best Doctors in America since 1994. He is a member of the Macula Society, the Retina Society and the American Society of Retina Specialists. Dr. Joffe was chosen as Jewish Community Man of the Year in 1992. He enjoys the theatre, symphony, golf and UA Basketball. Dr. Schindler trained at the University of Alberta, University of Western Ontario and Wills Eye Hospital in Philadelphia, and has been listed in Best Doctors in America since 2001. He has practiced in Tucson for 27 years and chose medicine for the diagnostic and treatment challenges. He is a member of the American Society of Retinal Specialists and considers being a physician a tremendous privilege. Dr. Schindler served as Chief of Staff at Carondelet St. Joseph’s Hospital from 2008-2010 and enjoys working with the hospital community. Dr. Welch received his medical degree and ophthalmology training at Loyola University, Chicago, and Stritch School of Medicine. The son of an ICU nurse, his favorite aspect of his practice is the ability to offer care in their office for a variety of conditions.
