This year, the United Architects of the Philippines (UAP) will be celebrating four decades of the National Convention (NATCON). With the growing threats against the profession, environment, and nation, UAP has responded by calling for unity and solidarity through the theme, “ONE: Organization-movers. Nation-builders. Earth-keepers.” As the Integrated and Professional Organization of Architects (IAPOA), UAP continuously encourages everyone – architects, building partners, stakeholders, and the community – to join hands with the national organization in continuously promoting our profession, protecting public interest, and preserving the environment. Let us keep in mind that the success of any local, regional, area or national endeavour is based on sound leadership, political will, and teamwork. This is the essence of being ONE. Consistent with the theme, the Organizing Committee of NATCON 40 and the Convention on Exhibits (CONEX) has prepared a promising and productive program for this four-day national activity. Leaders and visionaries on good governance, professional practice, and environmental conservation will share their experiences and expertise. This will be complemented by seminar tours of various local destinations in the city. Architects will also be updated with the technological trends during the three-day CONEX event. Other events will be awarding of outstanding architect leaders and members in various fields of UAP service, the elevation of UAP Fellows and its officers, and the election of officers. In behalf of the organizers, I invite everyone to be ONE with us in the celebration of UAP NATCON 40 and CONEX 2014.
