T
he Saint Anthony’s football team is my family. For the past four years I have been a Friar and have loved every second of it. Playing football in black and gold has been one of the best experiences of my life. Being a part of this team has taught me a lot about myself. Football is a struggle; it tests your abilities both physically and mentally. This game has taught me hard work, determination, and to be hungry for success. I’ve learned to do a good job every time I get on the field. Taking a“play off”is easy, but there’s no glory in easy. Struggle breeds greatness and that’s why football is, great. Suiting up on a Friday night and going to war with my teammates is something that I will never forget. When my time as a Friar is over there a many things I will miss. I will miss bonds with teammates, pre game speeches by coach Reichert, and being in the locker room after a big win. Football is a game that I love. It has shaped me into the man I am today and taught me valuable lessons that I will keep with me my whole life. Unfortunately, I will not be playing college football. Which means this fall is my last time being a“football player”. I will never forget my time on Cy Donnelly field, and I will cherish my relationships with coaches that are like fathers and teammates that are like brothers.
