SIMPLE CHIC

An elaborate chic look can come in the simplest looks. Rather than to over accessorize or add too much color keep it simple with a light pallet neutral colors and strive for your best look with ease. Make your style as simple as you want it by keeping it full of clean cut and plain, but eccentric pieces.

SIMPLY SHABBY

Simple doesn’t always mean neatness, add flavor to your simple style with frayed jeans and grunge tops. Simplicity can look complicated with simple embellishments that could ultimately bring your personality into a very easy look. Master the art of adding a little scruff in your simplicity and see yourself at your simplest.

MASTER THE ART OF DRESSY CASUAL

Suits can alter a look completely, the way you dress changes how people perceive you. Men, make sure you’re always dressed for the occasion, and if you’re not sure always over dress. Don’t conceal swag, let it shine as bright as those shimmering cuff links.

Letter From the Editor

unior Laynie Aimes walks the halls of Cypress Creek high school with her own style in play. We see it on a day-to-day bases and now in this issue of the Catwalk. We get to reveal one of our favorite people that’s always drenched in her own fabulous style, and couldn’t wait to get the scoop on some of her must haves for the spring and summer and her all-time favorite looks. In addition, with fashion week on the rise we took to social media to find out how many designers were getting the word out on their latest collections. Fashion has truly transcended over the years with online tapings of live shows and social media tools such as Instagram and Twitter. It’s easy for everyone to have a front row seat at their favorite designers launch and sit back and enjoy the experience. Fashion week has a way of spreading to everyone whether you’re in the tent or far from it. This issue Menswear emphasized the need to master the art of a dressy casual look. As men’s fashion continues to thrive a basic suit and tie dosen’t seem to cut it anymore. As we tune in and look at some of the latest news a certain abstract and more creative look dominates successful attire. With men like Sergio Ines who’s seen as the man from the WhatMyBoyfriendWore Instagram account and website sophistication comes out of knowing what and how you want to achieve your personality with swanky features like different ties and blazers. Don’t fear creativeness when it comes to wardrobe choices, stand out by adding something new.

ith the rodeo right around the corner it’s time to find out what’s the best southern chic look you can pull off. Eccentric prints, cowgirl boots, and denim—lots of denim will make you look like a classic southern bell with a spicy twist.

INSPIRATION FOR RODEO WEAR

Well, I would wear cowgirl boots, a dress—probably lace, a denim jacket, and turquoise jewelry. I think turquoise jewelry is a western thing, and it’s also bright and best for the spring.

.Crew’s signature preppy chic style was once again palpable in the fall/winter 2014 men and women’s wear presented Tuesday at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week. This time the emphasis was on the latter, as the bold colors and prints seen in some previous seasons gave way to monochramatic colors, ombre pieces and more simplistic patterns, including stripes and soft florals. Several looks for men emphasized a laid-back yet polished vibe, such as drawstring pants paired with a turtle neck sweater and toggle coat. Both the men and women’s collections had a sporty vein running through them. The girly tomboy made an appearance, best epitomized by a women’s take on a tuxedo. The collection also offered many of the trends that have had a strong presence on runways throughout the week, including cozy casual wear (sweaters and scarves), an earthy muted color palette made up predominantly of gray, beige, navy and maroon, and a dose of something sparkly.

Sharp patterns dominated the runway with Ohne Titel’s Spring/ Summer reveal. Sophisticated, eclectic looks and styles made us wonder how much we’d possibly spend on the entire line. It captured the essence of an edgy style with so many variations and pieces to make every look seem like a dream. It’s no lie we were left completely awed by the entire arrangement--with everything that appeared as swanky as the last thing that came by. A certain aquatic look that screamed the perfect thing to wear to the beach assured us that Ohne Titel created the proper 2014 ready-to-wear summer line.

American label. British designer Stuart Vevers ushered in a new era for the $1 billion brand on Thursday when he presented his first collection of clothing and accessories for Coach as New York Fashion Week got underway. Vevers, a veteran of Louis Vuitton, Mulberry and Loewe, said the collection, which puts a bigger focus on clothing than ever before, is “about reestablishing what makes Coach unique in the market.” One of those things is that Coach, founded in 1941, is an American luxury brand. “And a lot of what I see people wear around the world are fundamental shapes that are American, whether it’s a denim jacket or a fireman’s coat or work wear,” said the designer, who was inspired by the rugged clothing worn by characters in Stanley Kubrick’s “The Shining,” among other things. The look was American-work-wear-meets-sophisticated-luxury, though edgier and more streetwise than the brand was under former creative director Reed Krakoff. The collection was heavy on outerwear, including Buffalo check blanket coats, shearling

hoodies and twill fireman’s coats, paired with suede shearling “urban hiker” boots that were a hybrid sneaker-boot with Coach’s signature turnlock fastenings. Underneath the warm layers were baseball jackets, wool miniskirts, patchwork suede dresses and retro-inspired sweaters. There were also fun extras, including cameo and leather feather necklaces. For the dark, autumnal color palette, Vevers looked to Joel Sternfeld’s photos of 1980s America in the book “American Prospects.” Vevers said he was also inspired by the women who collect vintage Coach purses. His new handbags seem to have a sturdiness and heft that was lacking in some of Coach’s recent designs. Vevers also studied the archives of famed Coach designer Bonnie Cashin, who worked for the brand from 1962 to 1974 and added several iconic handbag designs and hardware details. (He keeps a photo of her on his office wall as a reminder of how she is “the guardian angel” of the brand.) But ultimately, he did not want to dwell too much in the past. “I did some pieces early on but they felt too reminiscent and didn’t give enough of a feeling of change,” Vevers said. “So I kind of turned away, but hopefully still got some of the spirit.” The fall 2014 Coach collection will hit the brand’s flagship stores in September with prices from about $400 to $3,000.
