Versatile orange adds zest Oranges are ideal for a quick snack, energy booster and for adding zest to many recipes. The versatile fruit is a refreshing addition to spring and summer menus and a favourite during the winter season, as it contains vitamin C which boosts the immune system and helps to fight off the flu. Byron Stain, store manager at Food Lover’s Market Pinehurst, offers some tips on the popular citrus fruit: . Oranges are to be stored at moderate room temperature for one to two days and can be refrigerated for up to two weeks. . When purchasing oranges, look for firm oranges with smooth peels. . Pick oranges that are heavier for their size as these will have a higher juice content than those that are lighter in weight.
