Wave of the Future: RRC BEGINS USE OF ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE TO HELP WITH SEISMICITY REVIEWS
The RRC continues to innovate and draw on hightech solutions in order to improve its processes. The agency recently began using artificial intelligence to help technical analysts in its Underground Injection Control (UIC) Department conduct seismicity reviews that ensure residents and the environment are protected.
ENERGY NEWS
Seismicity reviews are done for injection/ disposal well permits in areas susceptible to earthquakes and in certain geologic zones. UIC staff programed a machine learning algorithm to help with the large amount of information that needs to be processed and digested.
