What’s Inside

Importance of Booking Inside the Room Block

Booking a room within the TPS room block is an important way to support the TPS and helps to keep the overall meeting registration fee and costs as low as possible. Booking “outside the TPS block” or at another hotel could expose TPS to monetary damages. Plus, staying in the hotel keeps you connected with all the activities and networking opportunities during the event. Please “help us help you” by booking your room at the Kalahari and reserve your room within the TPS room block.

Parking

Self-parking is complimentary for those registered for the meeting and valet is available for $39.99 per day.

TPS Awards

Charleta Guillory, MD, MPH, FAAP, Houston, is the recipient of the TPS Charles W. Daeschner, Jr., MD Lifetime Achievement Award, the highest award of the Texas Pediatric Society. The TPS recognizes her outstanding lifetime contributions to the health and welfare of children, her passion for advocating for vulnerable children, and dedicated service of leadership on the TPS Executive Board, Executive Legislative Committee, Committee on Fetus and Newborn, and numerous TPS committees throughout the years.

Tammy Camp, MD, FAAP, Lubbock, is the recipient of the TPS Sidney R. Kaliski Award of Merit in recognition of her many years of continuing leadership on the TPS Executive Board and various committees. She brilliantly led TPS as President at the onset of the COVID pandemic and has continued with outstanding leadership of the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion committee.

Lauren Gambill, MD, MPA, FAAP, Austin, and Marjan Linnell, MD, FAAP, Austin, are the recipients of the Mary Greene-Noble Special Achievement Award for their outstanding service on the TPS Executive Legislative Committee. Drs. Gambill and Linnell have gone above and beyond to represent TPS in our advocacy efforts during the Legislative session. With their support, TPS has a strong, powerful voice for children.

Margaret Wood, MD, MPH, FAAP, Houston, is the recipient of the TPS Early Career Physician Award in recognition of her leadership role as co-chair of the TPS Committee on Early Childhood, her advocacy work with underserved pediatric populations, particularly with infants and young children, and her commitment to the TPS Early Career Section, serving as a networker and connector for trainees within TPS.

Rep. Ann Johnson, Texas House District 134, Houston, is the recipient of the Clift Price, MD Distinguished Service Award for her outstanding service and dedication to the children of Texas. Through her role as an elected official, she has proved to be pivotal in prioritizing children during a legislative session that desperately needed a child advocate.
